Elections Are Over [02 Mar 2006|02:08am]
[ mood | exhausted ]

No one will be bugging you at Reitz or Turlington to vote anymore. Elections are over. Basically we got pwned by Swamp, however Gavin Baker from Unite is representing CLAS so that makes me happy. Now I am exhausted and need sleep.

Politics [24 Feb 2006|02:16pm]
[ mood | aggravated ]

Being out in Turlington today made me realize just how far I've traveled since the days of petty arguments about t-shirts and homecoming float themes or decorations. Election time has come around once more on the UF campus and this time I decided to go out and support the Unite party. I'm not going to go into their entire platform, if you'd like to check it out go to www.uniteuf.com. But today I went out to Turlington to help campaign and hand out flyers and talk to people. In talking to students I got an idea of what they wanted to change about campus and also got reamed out by a transsexual. That's right, I got yelled at. Why? Because I'm an insensitive bitch apparently. Maybe I am just extremely naive, but I honestly did not know that the word "transvestite" was offensive to a transsexual. I know the difference now, no thanks to the person who yelled at me, he just found it necessary to tell me what a horrible person I am and make sure everyone around me knew. My point here is this, if someone makes an mistake and says something offensive, or possibly taboo like that, please educate them and do not threaten to kick their ass. Please show a little bit of maturity. You do not help your community at all by biting off the heads of friends. Save your attacks for those who would try to bring you down and silence you. I am not one of them. That is why I want to be in politics, why I love it, because I want to help people get their voices heard.

But of course saying any of this now means absolutely nothing, because at the moment I was about to break down in tears. How am I going to make it out there in the world beyond college if stupid little things like this can hurt me so much?

[ mood | content ]

Fantastic weekend. Spent time with Amber. Went dancing. Went to a party. Spent time with the most awesome guy ever who will stand outside Jennings and sing Wicked/Tenacious D songs with me. It really does feel like it's all been a dream. But, I don't want to wake up.

Saw Condom Miranda tonight. Fuuuuuuun times :)

The highlight of my day came while walking home from Reitz with Maggie...a few of you know what I'm talking about. Let's just say I'll remember this night for a while and I've stepped into a much larger world. Some of you may be grossed out, but I don't care. I'm amused.

Reasons Why Sal Is Awesome [14 Feb 2006|10:35pm]
[ mood | loved ]

- He got me a penguin card and Princess Bride pins
- We can sit around and just listen to music and talk
- He's such a nerd
- He has cool ninja poses that involve potted plants
- Can we say lady's man?

And I think most importantly,
- He likes me for me and doesn't mind the fact that I can be weird, or silly, and usually don't make sense.

Thank you Rick.
Love,
Tina

A Day About Nothing [12 Feb 2006|03:28am]
[ mood | nostalgic ]

I was supposed to go to the swing dancing workshop today, but due to my spazistic nature I hurt my left foot last night and was pretty incapable of dancing at all today. So Maggie and I hung out and did nothing, which I must say felt extremely productive. We chilled, talked, watched VH1 for about 4 hours. We did go to Target, CVS, and Blockbuster later on, so I guess that counts as something. But all in all it was a pretty lazy day. Tonight we hung out at Nathan's and watched Stand By Me, which is an awesome movie that will jazz you up good. It got me thinking back to when I was that age, about 11 or 12 and some of the stupid kid stuff we did. It made me remember the pink ladies days, talking to guys on the internet at sleep overs, holding seances, building forts out of sheets in my living room, dancing to spice girls songs, how my heart crumbled when Brett kissed Ashley on the back of the bus and how happy I was when he gave me his tickets at the skating rink, and singing "My Heart Will Go On" God knows how many times. How the times have changed. It's hard to really grasp that 7 years have gone by since that time period. And that bracelet still sits in a jewelry box on my desk in Tampa.

I don't think it gets much better than singing oldies into a hair brush microphone with your roommate when you definitely should be reading for school. And my leg feels better. You know what that means. SWING DANCING ALL WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111one
